Kersia Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of the international group, attended the 12th edition on November 14 and 15, 2022. We met some of our customer breweries and answered their questions on the latest innovations for cleaning and sanitizing their brewing facilities and to help them with hygiene management at their microbrewery.

We took the opportunity to conduct a brief interview with our team to paint a portrait of Kersia in the microbrewery market segment.

What are Kersia’s latest innovations for the brewing industry?

“One of Kersia’s unique innovations is a single-phase acid which generated considerable interest today at the Québec microbreweries congress. It’s an acid that helps to clean the BBT, fermenters, kegs and all cold circuits.

There are several potential uses for microbrewing with a single product, which is effective at room temperature and is non-foaming; there is no need to worry about CO2 carbonates or negative pressure that can damage equipment. And it’s an ecofriendly acid. ”

What is the greatest benefit of this single phase product Clean A-SP 43 ?

The main difficulty is finding a product to treat organic stains capable of removing Krausen Rings. The majority of acid detergents are not effective in this respect.

  – Louis Aubin – expert consultant in food hygiene solutions

“The main benefit is finding an effective product to treat both organic and mineral stains! It is effective on mineral deposits, such as beer stone among others, but the main difficulty is finding a product to treat organic stains capable of removing Krausen Rings. The majority of acid detergents are not effective in this respect. ”

“It is capable of doing both.”

“Precisely, it is very effective for removing organic stains which are challenging in general. The interest of a product like this for microbreweries is that we do not need to heat it and we do not even need to have a CIP! We can prepare the solution and recirculate it next to the fermenter for example. This considerably simplifies cleaning; we gain the waiting time for heating the solution, we save energy costs and water consumption.  ”

A product designed to deal with the technical challenges facing breweries.

“For microbreweries, a single-phase product not only saves costs but also deals with technical challenges facing microbreweries such as for example, lack of space or equipment shortage or when equipment is poorly adapted to the microbrewery model or when there are difficulties with a product that needs to be heated, etc.

Another challenge that we remove with this product is managing a caustic that loses effectiveness over time when it transforms into bicarbonate, creating negative pressure, vacuums, that can damage the tanks. So a product like this is one less worry. ”

– a product like this gives you peace of mind to produce high-quality beer without having to worry about technical hygiene problems.
